Casual but Cool: A Superbowl Edit

I’ll be honest, I couldn’t care less about the game. I rarely know who’s playing in advance, and choose a favorite team on the spot based on their “outfit”. What I DO love? That it’s basically the only appropriate time of the year to eat pigs in a blanket and a an excuse to see friends. Sometimes, that kind of “chill but social” activity is just the kind of thing to cause outfit paralysis. My clients are always asking for suggestions on what to wear when you want to try “just a little” without looking like you did. Ask, and you shall receive!

The Non-Boring Knit

I love a deep-V-neck to show a little skin or something with detail to add interest, even though it’s casual. Tight turtlenecks can also be perfect paired with the aforementioned denim silhouettes, especially in a stripe or fun color.

Denim Tuxedo

Denim top + jeans = tuxedo. This is a great one to play with for casual events, because it’s very much a “look” but clearly not dressy. Try keeping your denims to a similar weight, color and weave to pull this off - even if they were not sold as a set.

Jumpsuit

Hello jumpsuits, a perennial favorite for any “casual but cool” occasion. They’re a one and done deal, so they couldn’t be easier to throw on, and are less dressy than…a dress.

Jeans w Personality

Keeping in mind that many superbowl parties might be shoe free, I love a cropped wide leg, barrel leg, maybe even a patchwork or anything cropped that will look good, even with bare feet.
